Bloomingdale Resident Teaching Artist, Marc Peloquin, leads this four-week lecture course designed to inspire a greater appreciation for music throughout a variety of musical styles.
*Summer in the City is an online-only class.
In this four-week lecture series, adult participants will enrich their understanding of music by engaging with the fundamental elements involved in musical perception through group discussion, recorded listening examples, and live demonstrations of musical concepts.
Participants in this course will engage with diverse musical works that will be sure to enhance your enjoyment of summer. We will explore masterworks with a summer theme by such composers as George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Leonard Bernstein, Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, Aaron Copland, and Tchaikovsky. Join us for a weekly musical vacation!
We provide access to music education to anyone who seeks it, regardless of economic status, ability, ethnicity, or religion, which has a profound impact on individual lives as well as on our entire community.
Our goal is to make music education accessible and to remove the financial barrier that may prevent students from participating. Therefore, we offer need-based financial aid to as many students as possible.
